Archived Policy
Purpose
The Digital & Social Review is committed to the long-term preservation and availability of its published scholarly content. This policy outlines the methods and responsibilities for ensuring the digital archiving of the journal.
Publisher’s Archive
The primary, canonical version of the journal is archived on its official website. The publisher maintains all published content on secure, redundant servers with regular backups.
Third-Party Digital Archiving
To guarantee permanent access and safeguard against loss, the journal utilizes the following independent digital preservation services:
-
LOCKSS/CLOCKSS: The journal's publishing platform participates in the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems. These distributed, community-run preservation archives ensure that the published content is stored at multiple, geographically dispersed libraries.
-
Portico: The journal’s content is also preserved with Portico, a digital preservation service that provides a permanent archive for scholarly publications.
Author Self-Archiving (Green Open Access)
Digital & Social Review supports green open access. Authors retain the copyright of their work.
-
Accepted Manuscript (Post-print): Authors may deposit the final accepted manuscript in institutional or subject repositories immediately upon acceptance.
-
Published Version of Record: The publisher’s formatted PDF may be deposited in the author’s personal website or institutional repository, subject to an embargo period of 12 months from the date of first publication. When depositing, a full citation and link to the final article on the journal’s website must be provided.
Perpetual Access
In the event that Digital & Social Review ceases publication, provisions have been made through the CLOCKSS and Portico archives to ensure continued access to all published content.
Policy Review
This archiving policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect best practices in digital preservation.
